What does it meant to be an Accredited Investor? This title is one which refers to high-net worth individuals (and some entities) who have the ability to invest in strategies that are not typically available to retail investors. In order to qualify, you must meet one of the two following criteria:
- Earned income that exceeds $200,000 (or $300,000 with a spouse) in each of the prior two years, and reasonably expect to do so for the current year
OR - Have a net worth over $1 million, either alone or together with a spouse (excluding the value of your primary residence)
As an Accredited Investor, you may have interests and needs beyond the core planning and investment structures available at most institutions.
